”TAPKO was not an experiment – it was a place for working and exposing results. And TAPKO was also an idea. The place has been taken away from the people of TAPKO, but the idea will live on….”
René Block. Quote from TAPKO-THE MAGAZINE. 1993
“TAPKO-THE PLACE turned out to be one of the most interesting art projects in Denmark in 1992. In Copenhagen’s North Harbour in a small abandoned warehouse, formerly belonging to a bottling company (Tappekompagniet), a group of artists succeeded in creating a place whose topography was completely transformed four times.
Four times, a place was created in the midst of the progressively decaying harbour area in which the four international artists, each in his own way, considered the specific qualities of the area and the place; its melancholic decay and its increasing susceptibility to new, unknown significations.”
Lars Grambye. Quote from TAPKO-THE MAGAZINE. 1993
In 1993 TAPKO-THE MAGAZINE with documentations of the four exhibitions held at TAPKO-THE PLACE and the TAPKO IN CITY exhibition was published and distributed world wide.
A book about TAPKO was published in 1998 by Kerstin Bergendal, Jorgen Carlo Larsen, Cai-Ulrich von Platen and Kunsthallen Brandts. ISBN 87-7766-068-4 |
