A HISTORICAL ALPHABET FOR YOU
AN EXHIBITION SHOWN AT ARKEN
MUSEUM OG MODERN ART 2004
The exhibition A Historical Alphabet for you is based on the claim that words, made up by individual letters, form an underlying network or special code for the context of the world. (In this case the western culture) In the exhibition, laid out on the grid from Mondrian’s Composition A, the viewer encounters the alphabet, a blue and red screens created as a visual puzzle out of concepts, objects, texts and images from the alphabet. Small informative texts on letters of the alphabet are available to encourage one’s associative powers. A large text on the wall shows the artists own reading of the alphabet.
